ONGOING APPEAL

Care Outreach, as an extension of our existing work to families and communities in rural and remote Australia, have continued our Support Appeal .

We are continuing to offer a helping hand to Queensland & NSW farmers who are suffering from the effects of severe drought.  In over 25 years supporting Outback families, we are seeing hardship as harsh as we have ever seen.

In addition to the disadvantage farmers face through isolation, limited access to government/community services and benefits, and higher costs of living, they are facing ongoing extreme drought.  Care Outreach has a team of dedicated volunteers who work hard to provide assistance and support to farmers.

However as the drought continues, there is continued urgent need.  Farmers are struggling financially with the increased costs ensuring water and the ever increasing cost of feed in order to keep their stock alive. Many graziers reduced stock numbers at the start of the drought due to the lack of feed and water available however this also means a loss in their ability to produce income.  These factors, in combination with a reduction in stock prices are causing financial and emotional distress to our Aussie farmers.

“Prior to Christmas, many farmers had to choose between keeping their breeding stock alive or trying to raise the new calves and lambs.  Now, some are facing whether to feed themselves or their stock.  The mental anguish of facing these circumstances is causing many farmers to be discouraged, and there has been a marked increase in the number of suicides.  We are seeking donations to provide these families with some assistance and hope, whether it be food hampers, stock feed or vouchers to ensure the local business get support.” Bill Close (Founder)

How can you help?

Financial Donations

Care Outreach is seeking monetary donations, which are tax-deductible.  100% of the funds donated via our Disaster Assistance account goes to our Outback families.   With public support, Care Outreach is able to provide some hope in a time of immediate and urgent need for many farmers.

Gift Cards

Pre-paid visas and Fuel cards are also great options.  Please be mindful that ‘store branded’ cards eg: Coles & Woolies, have very limited use through the Outback. IGA & Foodworks are acceptable.
